At times there are situations in where scholars need additional help from us.  Examples could be:
-  special medical treatment
-  educational opportunity
-  unexpected situations

and more.  In this case you will have the possibility of making a donations to go directly to fund these situations.   You can make a one time donation here.  Once the donation goes through, e-mail us to give us additional details on how you would like your funds to be distributed.

February 2008:
Alejandro has his braces on and will have to get 2 wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible to prevent them from moving the rest of the teeth. He is happy that his treatment has started.

December 2007:
Alejandro has been diagnosed with having a dental Braquifacial class II; with the superior maxilar forward with the following measurements:  maxilar depth 93 degrees (normal is 90 degrees), convexity +6mm (normal is 2mm).   

Without the technical terms; he has a deformation of the jaw which in his case, makes his teeth go forward and it gets worse as time goes by.  This causes many long term problems and the earlier you treat it the better.  It is treated with braces and it is estimated to take about 24 months.

 

Alejandro when younger

It is a long process but Alejandro was who had the initiative to come to us in request of a dentist consultation.  His concern is that his "bad teeth" make him shy and introverted.  He says kids make fun of him at school.  We can tell that when he smiles he doesn't smile "fully" because he tries to cover his teeth.

We want Alejandro to value the effort of the volunteer dentist, our sponsors and our organization so we are not going to GIVE him the treatment.  Alejandro has agreed to get involved in the entire process of the treatment and also work hard for it.  He will be helping with the sponsored children.
